The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement:

"Some news websites and social media platforms circulated a report yesterday, dated 5-11-2026, claiming that six robbery operations took place in the heart of the capital, Beirut, within a period of 45 minutes.

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces wishes to clarify that this news is inaccurate and exaggerated. In reality, only one robbery operation occurred yesterday afternoon in the New Road area.

In this context, a patrol from the Beirut Investigation Unit managed, at 4:00 AM on 5-11-2026, to arrest two individuals in flagrante delicto on an unregistered motorcycle in the Achrafieh district – Pierre Gemayel Avenue, for committing a robbery in the area.

It was found that they have prior records in this field, namely:

H.H. (born in 2002, Lebanese)

A.D. (born in 2006, Palestinian)

The following items were seized from them:

An unregistered white GR-type motorcycle without documents.

A quantity of hashish inside a shoulder bag.

The detainees were handed over to the relevant police station for legal proceedings, and the investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the competent judiciary.

The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces urges all media outlets and news websites not to rush into publishing any news before verifying its accuracy, and not to exaggerate news that may negatively impact the general situation in the country.

It also asks citizens not to circulate such unreliable news, which causes confusion and instills fear among people.
