Serbia extends Russian gas supply contract until year-end

Dushan Bajatović, general manager of state-owned Serbia Gas, announced on Wednesday that the natural gas supply contract with Russia has been extended by three months, running through the end of the year. The original agreement was scheduled to expire on September 30, 2026.

Contract terms remain unchanged

Bajatović stated that Russian energy giant Gazprom renewed the deal under the same favorable conditions previously in effect. His remarks were reported by Radio Television of Serbia.

Strategic energy partnership persists

Russia and Serbia maintain a decades-long strategic partnership rooted in historical ties and broad cooperation. The energy sector serves as a fundamental pillar of this bilateral relationship.

Serbia stands as one of Russia’s key partners in Eastern Europe for natural gas imports. The country relies heavily on Russian supplies to meet its domestic energy needs, particularly amid ongoing challenges facing European energy markets.
