Syria: Dismantling an international drug trafficking network.. and uncovering secret manufacturing sites in rural Damascus

The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the dismantling of an international trafficking link and the uncovering of secret manufacturing headquarters, in addition to striking local promotion hotspots in rural Damascus.

This came after the Anti-Narcotics Directorate carried out a series of complex and qualitative security operations in rural Damascus, noting that these operations stem from its keenness on community safety and as part of its comprehensive strategy to pursue organized crime networks.

The Ministry stated in a communiqué, today, Saturday, that "the international smuggling network which it managed to dismantle after a precise intelligence monitoring and follow-up operation was active in the border area of Rankous, noting that it managed to seize a huge shipment containing approximately one million Captagon pills and one kilogram of hashish, which was coming from Lebanon for smuggling through Syrian territory towards neighboring countries, clarifying that three of the network's most prominent members were arrested, namely: (A. S), (M. B), and (A. A).">

The Ministry added that, in parallel, it managed to seize old sites that were used for manufacturing Captagon pills, containing quantities of raw materials, advanced machinery, and logistical equipment, and also arrested the main person responsible for these sites, named: (A. A), who was duly referred to the competent judiciary.

In the same context, the Directorate's units also carried out a precise security operation in the city of Jaramana, during which they managed to apprehend a drug dealer who was facilitating his criminal operations in promoting and transporting narcotic substances by impersonating a security officer

The Ministry of Interior affirmed that these field operations are the result of close coordination between its various units and border guard forces to strike at the core of criminal networks.
