Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa received Kurdistan Region of Iraq President Nechirvan Barzani at the People’s Palace in Damascus, with Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani in attendance.

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa met today with Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, at the People’s Palace in Damascus. Foreign Minister and Minister of Expatriates Asaad al-Shibani attended the meeting.
The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and discussed ways to advance them across all domains. Emphasis was placed on strengthening economic cooperation and broadening the scope of joint coordination to serve mutual interests.
Barzani and al-Sharaa also exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments. They addressed several issues of shared concern and reaffirmed the importance of enhancing regional cooperation and supporting efforts aimed at consolidating security and stability in the region.
This meeting forms part of ongoing political consultations between Damascus and Erbil. It seeks to explore opportunities for expanding cooperation in line with regional transformations and to reinforce ties between the two sides.
