Terrifying Explosions Shake Al-Is Area in Southern Aleppo Countryside (Video)

Syrian reports stated early Monday morning that a massive explosion was heard in the "Al-Is" area in southern Aleppo countryside, with initial speculation pointing to an explosion inside a munitions storage facility.

Activists and social media accounts shared video clips showing the massive explosion and simultaneous fires erupting at the site.

The explosions appeared similar to fireworks, with Syrian activists suggesting the scene resulted from uncontrolled detonation and random launch of ordnance.

The Internal Security Command in Aleppo Governorate announced full mobilization of its personnel and ordered closure of the Aleppo-Damascus road and all access routes leading to the explosion site in southern parts of the governorate, to ensure civilian safety.

According to the head of civil defense operations in Aleppo, explosions continue in the Al-Is area in southern Aleppo countryside, hindering rescue teams and emergency response efforts.

In turn, the Ministry of Emergency and Disasters warned against approaching the explosion site in Aleppo countryside or moving into surrounding areas.

The governor stated that investigations are ongoing to determine the causes of the explosions and that necessary measures will be taken against anyone proven involved.

He added that relevant authorities are monitoring developments at the Al-Is site and working to strengthen security and safety measures in the region.
