President Donald Trump confirmed to European NATO allies that the United States intends to stay in the alliance, according to a source at the Ankara summit.

During the NATO summit in Ankara, President Donald Trump reassured his European allies that the United States plans to remain a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), a source who attended the meeting stated on Wednesday.
The source, who requested anonymity, told Agence France-Presse that Trump addressed the allies in the summit's plenary session, declaring, "We want to stay with you."
Previously, Trump had set a condition for the US to continue its security commitment to NATO, demanding that member countries increase their defense spending to 5% of their gross domestic product. He warned of a potential US withdrawal if some countries failed to meet this target.
In related news, Bloomberg reported that NATO is considering canceling its 2027 summit to avoid a confrontation with Trump.
The NATO summit, concluding on Wednesday in Ankara, brought together 36 heads of state and government, including representatives from several Gulf countries.
