Trump Claims Iran Evaded Punishment for 47 Years Until His Presidency
Donald Trump stated that Iran escaped accountability for 47 years until his administration imposed consequences.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump asserted that Iran had avoided punishment for its crimes for 47 years and suffered a decisive military defeat during the war.
Trump said that Iran had been escaping accountability for decades until he assumed the presidency and imposed sanctions on the country.
In a post on the platform "Truth Social," Trump described Iran as "the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism."
He also criticized his Democratic predecessor, Barack Obama, stating, "The naive radical left and Democrats realize how successful we were in our war against Iran, as they suffered a crushing military defeat, while Obama continued to give them billions of dollars in cash and did not use our exhausted military at the time as he should have to contain Iran, the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism."
Obama had previously criticized Trump's agreement with Iran, saying, "We have returned to the starting point, perhaps worse."
Trump added, "They (the Iranians) had no respect for him (Obama). They thought he was, like (former President) Joe Biden, a weak and ineffective leader, and they were absolutely right."
He concluded his post by saying, "Iran escaped punishment for its crimes for 47 years until I came along. Then everything changed. America returned."
