US President Donald Trump said that Washington does not intend to launch new strikes against Iran at this time, downplaying speculation about his readiness to escalate the confrontation with Tehran following the midterm elections.

In a six-minute phone interview with the "Financial Times" on Tuesday, Trump expressed satisfaction with the current state of the standoff with Iran.

At the same time, Trump noted Washington's readiness to resume military operations if necessary, emphasizing that the United States does not rule out military options permanently.

Trump described the US stance toward Tehran as "excellent," amid ongoing diplomatic contacts between the two sides and American pressure on the Iranian government.

He added that the blockade and economic pressures imposed on Iran are yielding results, noting that his country is monitoring developments related to Iran's nuclear program and enriched uranium stockpile, coinciding with continued indirect talks between Washington and Tehran.

Trump had previously hinted in earlier statements at the possibility of resuming military operations after the US midterm elections, but he later expressed skepticism about the need to launch new attacks, affirming that reaching an agreement with Tehran remains a viable option.

Earlier, the US President confirmed in a phone interview with "Fox News" that the United States had launched strikes against Iran, following reports of an operation targeting Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump said: "They built an anti-aircraft facility... and as soon as it was completed, we struck it last night very well," describing the operation as a "limited strike."

Trump's remarks come amid speculation about the potential resumption of military operations against Iran after the US elections, while his statements indicate no immediate decision to escalate, keeping the military option open.

Conversely, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian considered that resuming fighting between the United States and the Islamic Republic would not be in anyone's interest, amid intense diplomatic efforts to avoid a new round of escalation in the Middle East.

Pezeshkian said during a government meeting that "no one will benefit from this war," pointing to work on resolving the dispute "through dialogue."

He reaffirmed that Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei granted the government authority to discuss "issues that were previously considered taboo," without providing further details.
