Ilhan Omar Wins Minnesota Election, Rashida Tlaib Retains Seat
US voters re-elected Democratic Representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib to new terms in the House following midterm election results.
US voters returned Democratic Representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib to the House of Representatives for new terms, according to midterm election results.
Ilhan Omar won a new term representing Minnesota, about three weeks after federal agents raided her home as part of an investigation into her immigration documents. Omar denied the validity of the action, considering it political persecution by the Trump administration.
Rashida Tlaib won her fifth term representing Michigan; she is the first Palestinian-American woman elected to the US Congress.
The two representatives are among the most prominent voices criticizing Israel's policies in Congress, demanding an end to US military aid to Israel and accusing it of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip.

This comes amid reports of a confirmed victory for Democrats in the House and a likely win in the Senate as early results from Tuesday's midterm elections emerged.
