Trump Not Regretting War on Iran Despite Potential Impact on Midterm Elections

President Donald Trump said he is not regretting the war against Iran despite its potential impact on the November midterm elections in the United States.

In an interview with Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham, responding to a question about whether he feels remorse over the war due to its possible effect on the elections, Trump said, "I don't believe in the word regret. But you can always question yourself a little bit."

He added during the Thursday broadcast: "If I had to do the same thing again, I would do exactly what I did."

Trump rejected suggestions that some of his supporters are upset and discouraged by the war.

"I don't think they're discouraged," Trump said. "I think they're extremely proud that I won't allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon."

Trump reiterated his belief that the war will end immediately after the midterm elections. He said: "The war will end right after the election."

Trump made a similar statement on Wednesday, saying Tehran is trying to influence the elections that will determine whether the Republican Party, to which the president belongs, retains control of Congress.

Rising oil and gas prices due to the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran have become a major issue for Republicans ahead of the election.

The United States and Israel launched an attack on Iran on February 28, and Iran responded by launching strikes on Israel and Gulf countries hosting American bases.

The U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran and Israeli attacks on Lebanon have resulted in thousands killed and millions displaced.
