Twenty people were injured when a passenger train derailed and overturned three carriages near Lewes, East Sussex, on Thursday; two sustained serious injuries, and no fatalities occurred.

A passenger train derailed and overturned three carriages on Thursday in the outskirts of Lewes, a town in East Sussex in southern Britain, leaving 20 people injured, according to Sky News.
Sky News reported that Dominique Iwona, the British Transport Police’s Chief Constable, confirmed two individuals suffered serious injuries while 18 others were also injured. Local media had earlier cited 11 injured persons before the updated figure was released.
According to a medical official cited by Sky News, first aid was administered to all injured individuals at the scene. The broadcaster added that the incident resulted in no fatalities.
The train carried approximately 150 passengers at the time of the derailment. Forty passengers were temporarily detained inside the train following the incident, Sky News reported. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
