Ukraine has appealed to its partners to allocate €6.6 billion (approximately $7.5 billion) available under the European Peace Facility for military aid, aiming to utilize this "timely opportunity" on the battlefield within the next six to nine months, according to Reuters.

In a letter reviewed by Reuters, Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov estimated Ukraine's total defense needs for the current year at around €136 billion, while the Ukrainian budget covers about €53 billion of this amount.

Fedorov added that Ukraine is expected to receive approximately €28.3 billion for defense purposes this year as part of a €90 billion loan from the European Union, noting that a "substantial" defense support requirement remains unmet.

Following President Zelensky's visit, the United Kingdom has redefined the military support framework for Ukraine.

In his letter dated June 26, Fedorov explained that the mechanisms of the European Peace Facility could represent a "decisive opportunity" to bolster Ukraine's defense efforts, provided these resources are directed to areas yielding the greatest and fastest military impact.

Meanwhile, military operations continue on the front lines, with Russian advances slowing this year. Ukraine has intensified counterattacks on certain axes, leveraging its medium- and long-range capabilities to disrupt Russian movements.

During a press conference on June 17, Fedorov stated that Ukraine seeks an additional $20 billion in civilian funding from the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, a coalition of about 50 countries, in addition to $40 billion already pledged.

From military support to army rebuilding, a new phase is underway in NATO-Ukraine relations.
