US Military Conducts Airstrikes on Iranian Military Site
The US military launched airstrikes targeting a military site in Iran, while intercepting Iranian drones posing threats near the Strait of Hormuz.

An American official confirmed to Reuters early Thursday that the US military carried out new airstrikes targeting a military location in Iran.
The official explained that authorities concluded the targeted site posed a threat to US forces and maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The nature of the targeted site and whether it was connected to explosions heard in eastern Iran shortly before were not specified by the official.
In the same context, the official told the agency that the US military also intercepted several Iranian drones that posed threats.
Separately, a correspondent for the Axios website reported on the X platform that a US official stated Iran launched four attack drones toward a commercial vessel.
The official confirmed to Axios that the US military shot down the drones and struck another Iranian drone-launching unit on the ground before it could deploy its drones.
At the same time, Fars News Agency announced hearing three explosions after midnight Wednesday in the eastern part of Bandar Abbas city, noting that the location and source of the sounds remain unknown.
The semi-official Iranian agency indicated that Iranian air defenses were activated for several minutes concurrent with the explosions, and investigations are ongoing to determine their origin.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing the explosions near the airport and the Behesht Bandar area, describing the sounds as resembling surface-to-air missiles, according to the Droub Site. One witness suggested hearing a fighter jet before the explosions occurred.
Iran's Strategy in the Strait of Hormuz
Iran has indicated its intention to establish a new reality in the Strait of Hormuz, through which about one-fifth of the world's oil typically passes, by imposing fees on ships.
The stalled negotiations to end the conflict and reopen the strait have drawn criticism from US President Donald Trump, just days after he stated that an agreement was near.
President Trump emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz lies within international waters and must remain open to all, asserting that Iran will not be allowed to gain full control over it.
US Denies Any Agreement with Iran on Hormuz
The White House rejected Tehran's claims, denying any agreement with Iran regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
