Fulham Football Club has announced the appointment of Spanish coach Alvaro Arbeloa as the head coach of their first team, signing him on a three-season contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2029. This marks Arbeloa’s first full managerial position outside the Real Madrid organization.

In remarks made to the club’s official website, Arbeloa expressed great pride in beginning this new chapter with one of London’s oldest clubs. He acknowledged the significant responsibility entrusted to him and extended his gratitude to club owner Shahid Khan and vice chairman Tony Khan for their confidence in his abilities.

Arbeloa added, “I am eagerly looking forward to my first match at Craven Cottage in front of Fulham’s supporters, and I am excited to start preparations with the players next week. I am confident that we will embark on a wonderful journey together.”

Shahid Khan highlighted that Arbeloa convinced the club’s management during meetings held in June, confirming that he was the most suitable candidate to lead the team. Khan emphasized Arbeloa’s strong ambition, experience gained from working with some of the world’s top players and coaches, and his commitment to developing young talent while promoting attacking football.

Tony Khan expressed his happiness with the signing, describing Arbeloa as a highly intelligent coach with a deep understanding of football, complemented by leadership qualities and a mindset focused on achieving success. He conveyed confidence in a promising future for the team under Arbeloa’s guidance.

Arbeloa’s coaching career began within the Real Madrid academy, where he managed youth teams and secured several titles. He later took charge of Real Madrid Castilla before being promoted to lead the first team last season following the departure of Xabi Alonso.

During his tenure with Real Madrid’s first team, Arbeloa led the club to a second-place finish in La Liga and achieved a notable victory by eliminating Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City from the UEFA Champions League with a 5-1 aggregate score.

As a player, Arbeloa had a distinguished career representing Real Madrid, Liverpool, Deportivo La Coruña, and West Ham United. He won the UEFA Champions League twice with Real Madrid and was part of the Spanish national team that won the 2010 FIFA World Cup as well as the UEFA European Championship in 2008 and 2012.
