Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez remains determined to bring Croatian midfielder Luka Modrić back to the club this summer.

Florentino Pérez, the president of Real Madrid, is committed to securing the return of Croatian midfielder Luka Modrić to the club during the current summer transfer window.
Modrić's contract with Milan expires on June 30, and he has yet to decide whether to activate an extension clause for an additional season or retire from professional football.
Market expert Fabrizio Romano stated on his YouTube channel: "Luka Modrić's contract with Milan ends this month. For months, his plan has always been to continue with the Rossoneri because he is a fan of the club before being a player for Milan."
Romano added, "Modrić intended to stay at Milan and keep playing, but after the last match of the season, Milan lost at home, and the management decided to change everything. The coach left, and the sporting directors also departed. Since then, Luka has felt somewhat lost in this situation."
He continued, "Modrić had a very good relationship with Massimiliano Allegri, who is now moving to Napoli, and also a very good relationship with Egli Tare, the sporting director who was dismissed. So now Luka must decide what he wants to do."
Romano further explained, "Modrić wants to focus now on the World Cup, and after the tournament, he will decide his future. However, it is true that in Spain there is talk that Real Madrid strongly desires Luka to return to the club in a different role when he decides to retire, whether that is this summer after the World Cup or possibly later in 2027 or 2028."
He concluded, "Florentino Pérez and the key people at the club have already made it clear internally that they insist on bringing Modrić back. Additionally, Luka wishes to live in Madrid for his personal life and future."
