Florentino Pérez Votes in Real Madrid's First Election Contest in 20 Years
Real Madrid members began voting between Florentino Pérez and Enrique Riquelme to choose the club's next president in the first competitive election in two decades.

Real Madrid's members started casting their votes today at the Valdebebas sports city to select the club's next president, choosing between Florentino Pérez and Enrique Riquelme.
Florentino Pérez was seen voting amid a crowd of his supporters during the election process.
This marks the first genuine electoral contest at Real Madrid in 20 years, following a period dominated by Pérez's leadership at Santiago Bernabéu.
Election Candidates' Proposals
Pérez has previously won uncontested elections in 2009, 2013, 2017, 2021, and 2025. Although his current term was scheduled to end in 2029, he called for early elections after a disappointing football season.
The historic Real Madrid president faces strong competition from the 37-year-old businessman Enrique Riquelme.
Florentino Pérez declared that if re-elected, he would appoint José Mourinho as the team's coach and sign an undisclosed star player for no less than 150 million euros. Meanwhile, Riquelme pledged to recruit Manchester City stars Erling Haaland and Rodri, as well as to secure manager Jürgen Klopp.
