Manchester City confirm Guardiola departure
Manchester City said on Friday that Pep Guardiola has left after a 10-year spell, while reports linked Omar Marmoush with a possible summer move.

Manchester City announced on Friday that Spanish manager Pep Guardiola has left the club after a historic 10-year spell. The club, which includes Egypt star Omar Marmoush in its squad, made the announcement officially.
After the departure was confirmed, Guardiola said: “We worked. We suffered. We fought together, and achieved things our own way. Now, with the end of my time, stay happy. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for trusting me. Thank you for pushing me forward and thank you for loving me.”
Attention has also turned to Marmoush, who is being monitored by an Italian club ahead of the summer transfer window. According to the Spanish BarcaUniversal network, which is affiliated with Barcelona, doubts have begun to surround the Egyptian player’s future at Manchester City.
The report said Marmoush is not convinced by the idea of staying in a secondary role at the club. It added that this has opened the door to growing interest from several major European clubs seeking his services in the next transfer window.
Barcelona are among the leading clubs interested in signing him. The club has been following Marmoush since January, and he is admired by sporting director Deco as well as German coach Hansi Flick, who believes the player has strong attacking flexibility and can operate in different forward positions.
Barcelona’s management believes Marmoush’s team play and off-the-ball movement fit the Catalan club’s philosophy clearly. That makes him an ideal option to strengthen the attack in the next phase.
Interest is not limited to Barcelona. Atletico Madrid are following developments in his situation closely in case they decide to enter the race, while AC Milan have placed his name on their list of candidates to bolster their attack next season.
Galatasaray have also entered the talks, with reports saying the Turkish club is ready to make a huge financial offer to persuade Manchester City to let the Egyptian player go.
