Manchester United has initiated direct discussions with West Ham United concerning the possible acquisition of winger Crysencio Summerville amid the ongoing transfer window.

Ben Jacobs reports that these talks remain in an exploratory phase, with any formal offer potentially contingent on developments involving Marcus Rashford.

As Manchester United prepares to compete across several competitions next season, the club's leadership is focused on enhancing squad quality and depth.

Although the primary transfer priority is reinforcing the midfield, the club is also actively seeking to secure a high-caliber winger, a role Summerville is considered suitable for.

Following West Ham's relegation to the Championship, multiple key players from the club have attracted transfer interest.

Mateus Fernandes has already completed a move to Tottenham Hotspur for £85 million, and Summerville is among those linked with a departure.

At 24 years old, Summerville delivered notable performances for the Netherlands during the 2026 World Cup, recording two goals and two assists across four matches.

He was also a key contributor for West Ham last season, tallying nine goal involvements over 31 Premier League appearances.

Summerville's contract with West Ham extends until 2030, granting the club considerable negotiating power and the ability to demand a substantial transfer fee.

Manchester United previously showed strong interest in Fernandes but declined to meet West Ham's high asking price, enabling Tottenham to finalize the transfer.

Michael Carrick's squad may encounter a similar challenge in negotiations for Summerville.
