Alonso described the chemistry between the 24-year-olds as both natural and strategically valuable. Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s upcoming Premier League fixture with Hull City, he confirmed the club had tracked their rapport before finalizing Rogers’ summer transfer. “Even before playing together, they were so connected,” Alonso said. “We were following this connection for a few weeks before the transfer did happen, and Cole was very influential. He played an important role, Morgan as well, the club as well.”

Palmer earned Man of the Match honors in the Leeds encounter, prompting a lighthearted on-camera exchange between the two players. Alonso noted the healthy dynamic: “For me, it's good that they both feel entitled to this award. For sure, they are both enjoying themselves playing with the team, playing with each other. They enjoy when the other one makes good things for the team, and we were expecting that, but so happy that it is happening and that early days we have a good partnership there.”

Both players developed at Manchester City’s academy and later represented England at youth international level. Rogers’ integration has progressed rapidly since his arrival. “He has adapted quite well, very quick,” Alonso stated. “He's feeling great, he's enjoying his game, his football, his connection with the team.”

Chelsea now prepares for a Premier League clash with Hull City, who sit one point above the Blues in the table after a strong start to the season. Head coach Sergej Jakirovic recently joked that the only way to stop Chelsea’s stars was “to kick them.” Alonso responded with measured respect: “We face tomorrow's game with the same respect we did last week against Arsenal. Hull will be hard to beat. They have their weapons as well, they have the belief, the coach is doing a great job, so it's going to be hard and we'll have to be at our best to beat Hull.”

Neto extends commitment to Chelsea

Amid the positive developments, Pedro Neto signed a new long-term contract with Chelsea, extending his stay until 2032. The 26-year-old Portuguese winger, who joined from Wolverhampton Wanderers, has recorded 21 goals and 19 assists during his time at the club.
