Tottenham Hotspur is close to signing Argentine defender Marcos Senesi on a free transfer, outpacing Liverpool in the Premier League summer market.

Tottenham Hotspur has taken a significant step into the summer transfer window by nearing an agreement to acquire Argentine defender Marcos Senesi on a free transfer to strengthen their defense for the upcoming season.
Italian transfer market journalist Matteo Moretto revealed that Tottenham's management has reached a verbal agreement with Senesi, who currently plays for Bournemouth, to join the London club on a four-year contract this summer without a transfer fee.
Senesi, aged 29, became a free agent after his contract with Bournemouth expired at the end of the season, opening opportunities for top Premier League clubs to sign him without a fee. Despite strong links to Liverpool, the Argentine defender has prioritized Tottenham's project.
During the last season, Senesi was a key player for Bournemouth, participating in 39 matches across all competitions and providing five assists, according to Transfermarkt statistics.
English reports indicated that Senesi set a clear condition before signing: Tottenham must remain in the Premier League. This condition was fulfilled after Spurs secured their league status with a 1-0 victory over Everton in the final round, confirming their official stay in the top flight.
With Senesi's addition, Tottenham achieves a dual objective in the transfer market: reinforcing their defense with an experienced player at no cost and securing a signing away from a direct competitor like Liverpool.
