Aoun and Salam Discuss Security Situation and Preparations for Negotiations
President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam reviewed the general situation in the country and the security developments in the south, in light of continued Israeli attacks and the displacement of residents.

President of the Republic Joseph Aoun received Prime Minister Nawaf Salam at Baabda Palace, and discussed with him the general situation in the country and the security developments in the south, in light of the continued Israeli attacks and their expansion to a number of southern towns and villages, especially in the districts of Tyre and Nabatieh, in addition to the continued demolition and bulldozing of homes, and the destruction of historical landmarks in the south. As well as the ongoing threats targeting civilians and the repeated calls for them to leave their homes and livelihoods. Presidents Aoun and Salam agreed to intensify contacts to put an end to these condemned Israeli practices.
The two presidents conducted an assessment of the meeting held in Washington between the Lebanese, American, and Israeli military delegations and the deliberations that took place there, in which the Lebanese side affirmed "its adherence to the priority of a ceasefire." The discussion between the two presidents also addressed the ongoing preparations for the next round of negotiations on June 2 and 3. The meeting also reviewed the security situation in the country and the daily follow-up on the conditions of those forcibly displaced from their homes and properties.
