The Beirut and Mount Lebanon Water Institution announced the waiver of 85 percent of late payment fines for subscriptions from 2025 and earlier, alongside installment plans to ease economic burdens.

The Beirut and Mount Lebanon Water Institution stated in a press release that it has begun collecting bills for the year 2026 starting from January 7, 2026. The institution urged all subscribers to pay their water dues for 2026 and previous years through authorized collectors, distribution office cash desks, electronic payment machines (POS), or O.M.T money transfer centers.
Given the current economic conditions, the institution issued the following regulatory decisions:
1. A waiver of 85% of late payment fines imposed on subscription fees for the year 2025 and prior years.
2. Installment plans for overdue fees from previous years up to 2026, with a maximum period ending in December 2028.
3. Facilitation of new subscriptions for former subscribers with outstanding debts, allowing them to pay due amounts in installments until December 2028.
4. Reduction of new subscription establishment fees for buildings connected to water networks by the following percentages:
28% for metered subscriptions.
15% for counter-based subscriptions.
5. A 90% reduction in subscriber name change fees.
6. A 90% reduction in temporary subscription renewal fees.
7. Allowing subscribers who wish to do so to pay 2026 fees in up to three installments, detailed as follows:
Installment - Description - First:
Due before the end of October 2026
Second:
Due before the end of November 2026
Third:
Due before the end of December 2026
Finally, the institution hopes that valued subscribers will respond to this announcement and initiate payment of their dues without delay, especially arrears, in compliance with Article 24 of the operating regulations adopted by the institution, issued by Decree No. 14597 dated June 14, 2005.
This announcement is considered personal notification to each subscriber and interrupts the statute of limitations."
