Economy: 16,135 Field Inspections and 723 Violation Reports!

The Directorate of Consumer Protection at the Ministry of Economy and Trade reported in its weekly update, as part of ongoing monitoring campaigns conducted in coordination with security and judicial authorities, that: since the beginning of the year until September 4, 2026, it responded to 1,262 complaints, carried out 16,135 field inspections, and issued 723 violation reports.

In the week from August 31 to September 4: it responded to 285 complaints, conducted 551 inspections resulting in 43 violation reports. Due to the intensive campaign encouraging citizens to use the ministry’s electronic application for submitting complaints confidentially and conveniently, while ensuring swift responses, public participation via the MoET Digital Services app surged by nearly 5.5 times the usual weekly rate, representing a 448% increase.

It should be noted that the ministry’s ongoing campaign targeting electricity generators has resulted, as of yesterday, in the seizure and confiscation of 43 generators and the issuance of 58 violation reports against violators of the Ministry of Energy’s pricing regulations, which were set at 48,241 Lebanese pounds per kilowatt-hour for urban and densely populated areas in August. The seized generators are being handed over to the relevant municipalities for supervision or operation, ensuring service continuity and safeguarding citizens’ rights.

As the Ministry of Economy and Trade promotes the slogan "Every Citizen is a Monitor," it urges citizens and consumers to report any violations they observe, either through its electronic application (MoET Digital Services) or via the hotline of the Lebanese Consumer Association (01750650).
