President of the Republic Joseph Aoun affirmed that "the framework formula does not legitimize the continuation of the Israeli occupation in Lebanon but stipulates enabling the Lebanese army to extend its control over all Lebanese territory."
He added during his reception of delegations from the Association of Lebanese Universities, the Lebanese Order of Physicians, and the Lebanese Maronite Order: "Our sovereign decision to separate our path from the Iranian-American path is the problem of those who are accustomed to being under a guardianship that controls us, decides for us, and negotiates on our behalf. We are a democratic country that respects freedom of opinion, but there are red lines that must not be crossed, such as seeking sedition or toppling the government in the street."
He continued: "Strength is not in the ability to wage war or ensure its continuation, but in the courage to end it through negotiation, which is a battle without bloodshed. No one doubts the role of the army, and it will assume its full responsibilities in achieving security and stability in the south after the withdrawal of Israeli forces."
For his part, the head of the "Association of Lebanese Universities," Dr. Elias Al-Warraq, said: "The salvation of the homeland comes from the will of its sons, and our hope remains in your dedication to serving this homeland from your position as its president, just as you were dedicated to serving it from your position as army commander."
As for the Superior General of the Lebanese Maronite Order, Abbot Hadi Mahfouz, he said: "We stand by your side in your endeavor to lead our country on a glorious path that reverses the path of regression, war, destruction, and displacement."
