"UNICEF": Nearly 330 Children Killed or Injured Due to War in Sudan This Year
The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) revealed that the war in Sudan between the army and the Rapid Support Forces has resulted in the killing and injury of at least 330 children during the first six months of 2026.

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) revealed that the war in Sudan between the army and the Rapid Support Forces has resulted in the killing and injury of at least 330 children during the first six months of 2026.
It expressed concerns about the potential recurrence of atrocities committed during the Rapid Support Forces attack in October 2025 on the city of El Fasher in the Darfur region, which a UN investigation concluded bears "hallmarks of genocide," stressing that "any further deterioration may expose more children to the risk of death, injury, displacement, and other grave threats to their safety."
UNICEF Representative in Sudan Sheldon Yett noted in a statement that children "are being killed and injured inside their homes, on roads, in markets, and while trying to access basic services such as education and healthcare."
It is noteworthy that the city of El Obeid in North Kordofan State has been subjected for weeks to continuous bombardment by drones belonging to the Rapid Support Forces, targeting civilian infrastructure including power stations, water networks, and schools. The United Nations issued a "red alert" indicating that the forces are preparing to launch a deadly attack on the city, threatening its population of approximately half a million people.
