Zamir Raises Threat Threshold: Disarming Hezbollah South of the Litani Linked to Lebanese Army Capabilities

Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir visited the headquarters of the 91st Brigade today, Wednesday, where he reviewed the operational situation in the region and the readiness level of the forces, in the presence of several senior military commanders.

During the visit, Zamir conducted an assessment of the operational situation, while units of intelligence gathering, the "Yehalom" unit, and reserve soldiers in the brigade showcased robotic capabilities and advanced combat systems, which the Israeli army stated contribute to mission execution and enhance defensive capabilities.

Zamir also approved the principles of the defense plan in the region, directing commanders to raise the readiness level and prepare for various developments and operational tasks.

Zamir said the 91st Brigade holds a forward position in defending northern Israel residents, noting that forces operate under an updated operational concept involving presence in forward defense areas, including "beyond the border."

He added: "The battle is not over yet, and challenges remain ahead," claiming that the Israeli army has achieved operational successes and weakened Hezbollah's capabilities.

Regarding the situation south of Lebanon, Zamir affirmed that the Israeli army is determined, as he put it, to remove Hezbollah's military presence from the area south of the Litani River and push toward its disarmament.

He considered achieving this goal through an agreement with the Lebanese government requiring the Lebanese Army to "significantly improve its effectiveness on the ground," stressing that Israel will not allow, in his words, Hezbollah to rebuild its strength, regain its capabilities, or reestablish military infrastructure in the region.

Zamir pointed out that battlefield developments are changing rapidly, which, according to him, necessitates continuous development of military capabilities and ongoing adaptation to changes.

He revealed that the Israeli army intends to launch what it calls the "robotics arm" in the coming months, aiming to develop aerial, maritime, and land capabilities based on both manned and unmanned systems, adding that the capabilities demonstrated during the visit "are merely the beginning."

He also praised the capabilities used by Israeli forces during operations in the Shaqif "Boufar" area and the Ali al-Tahir heights, considering them to have enhanced operational performance and contributed to soldier protection.

Zamir concluded by reaffirming that the Israeli army will continue developing its capabilities and adapting to field changes, aiming to strengthen its superiority in military and technological domains.
