Singer Alanis Morissette confirmed her pansexuality during a recent episode of the Handsome podcast hosted by Tig Notaro and Fortune Feimster.

Alanis Morissette publicly identified as pansexual at age 52. The announcement occurred during the final episode of the "Handsome" podcast. Hosts Tig Notaro and Fortune Feimster, both comedians, along with non-binary writer Mae Martin, facilitated the conversation.
The topic emerged while discussing songs reflecting painful emotional experiences. Feimster expressed sympathy for men who hurt Morissette but praised the resulting music. She jokingly asked if those experiences made Morissette want to become lesbian.
Morissette answered without hesitation: "I am pansexual, so yes." This response surprised Notaro, who questioned if she truly was pansexual. Morissette confirmed it affirmatively. Martin quickly added that she also identifies as pansexual.
The term "pansexual" describes individuals capable of emotional, romantic, or sexual attraction regardless of another person's gender or gender identity. It differs from "bisexual," which refers to attraction to more than one gender. Pansexuality explicitly includes transgender, non-binary, and other identities outside traditional classifications.
Morissette has historically kept romantic details private. However, she has linked with several notable men over the years. She previously spoke openly about struggles with love and sex addiction.
Her relationship with actor Dave Coulier, known for "Full House," inspired her widely successful album "Jagged Little Pill." She also dated actor Dash Mihok and attorney Tom Ballanco before marrying rapper Mario "Soulja Boy" Treadway. They remain married.
In 2002, Morissette dated Ryan Reynolds. The couple announced an engagement lasting three years. They separated in 2007.
