The Second Panel of the Kirkuk Criminal Court issued a two-year sentence of severe imprisonment against a former assistant to the director of real estate registration in Kirkuk. The court found her guilty of intentionally causing damage to public funds.

The court's ruling was based on Article 340 of the Penal Code and Articles 47, 48, and 49 related to participation. It was established that the defendant facilitated the sale of a property belonging to the Kirkuk municipality by falsifying the property's registration number and abusing her official powers, which resulted in deliberate harm to state finances.

According to the court, the evidence and proofs presented in the case were sufficient to convict the former official and issue the ruling.

This verdict is part of the "Dawn Assault" campaign launched by Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaydi, recognized as the largest operation to track and prosecute corrupt individuals in Iraq. The campaign aims to pursue those who have infringed on public funds and reorganize state institutions.

Government directives include opening investigations into real estate and property registration files in Kirkuk to dismantle networks manipulating public assets and to recover seized lands and municipalities.

The Integrity Commission emphasized that rulings based on Article 340 demonstrate the momentum of the campaign's first phase. It affirmed the government's determination to continue legal procedures without exceptions or yielding to pressures related to settling scores, ensuring the enforcement of the rule of law.
