The Champions League semi-final clash between Arsenal and Atletico Madrid goes beyond technical aspects, turning into a decisive financial battle. The qualifier for the final match will guarantee a direct reward of 18.5 million euros, according to what was reported by the Spanish newspaper Marca.

Qualifying for the final is not limited to this reward alone, but opens the door to significant additional revenues. The tournament champion receives an additional 6.5 million euros as a coronation prize, in addition to 4 million euros for participating in the European Super Cup, and another million euros in case of winning that cup. The final match will be held in Budapest on May 30, making the semi-final clash a decisive station on both the sporting and economic levels.

Atletico's Financial Haul in the Tournament

Atletico Madrid succeeded in collecting 75.15 million euros during its journey in the current edition of the Champions League, with the possibility of increasing this number if it reaches the final. These revenues were distributed as follows:

  • 18.62 million euros as a participation reward
  • 8.4 million euros for 4 victories
  • 0.7 million euros from one draw
  • 6.93 million euros based on ranking
  • 1 million euros for reaching the playoff, and another million for qualifying from it
  • 11 million euros for reaching the round of 16
  • 12.5 million euros for the quarter-finals
  • 15 million euros for the semi-finals

These figures do not include television market revenues, which are distributed after the end of the tournament.

A Huge Financial Legacy Under Simeone's Leadership

Since Diego Simeone took over the technical responsibility, Atletico Madrid has strengthened its European presence by achieving total revenues amounting to 935.6 million euros from its participations in the Champions League, reflecting the club's stability both sportingly and economically. In the 2024/2025 season, the team's revenues from the tournament reached about 84.9 million euros, despite its exit from the round of 16 against Real Madrid on penalties, according to a report by the Union of European Football Associations.
