Manchester City host Brentford on Saturday needing a win to keep pressure on Premier League leaders Arsenal.

With their Premier League title hopes hanging by a thread after a dramatic 3-3 draw with Everton, Manchester City welcome Brentford to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday at 7:30 PM. The match, part of matchweek 36, comes with City knowing that anything less than a victory could effectively end their championship challenge.
Arsenal currently sit atop the table with 76 points, while Pep Guardiola’s side occupy second place with 71 points from 34 games. City’s record this season stands at 21 wins, eight draws, and five defeats. Despite the recent setback, the team had been on a strong run, going unbeaten in their previous five matches with four consecutive wins against Southampton, Burnley, Arsenal, and Chelsea before the Everton stalemate. City also have a game in hand against Crystal Palace.
Erling Haaland remains City’s primary attacking weapon, having scored 25 goals this season in another exceptional campaign. The Norwegian striker is expected to lead the line as Guardiola’s side looks to bounce back. Meanwhile, Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush is hoping for increased playing time as uncertainty surrounds his future at the club.
Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are reportedly targeting Marmoush in the upcoming summer transfer window. According to the English newspaper Mirror, the 59 million pound signing from January 2025 has not been given enough opportunities to prove himself under Guardiola, despite his clear attacking abilities.
Marmoush came close to joining Villa during the winter transfer window, but negotiations fell through at the last moment after Guardiola insisted on keeping the player. Emery sees the Egyptian as an ideal fit for the role of a mobile striker or second striker—a position the club has lacked since Moussa Diaby’s departure. Villa believe Marmoush could provide more varied and effective attacking solutions for the upcoming season.
