Liz Klaveness, the head of the Norwegian Football Association, sat beside FIFA president Gianni Infantino during Norway's victory over Ivory Coast in the World Cup on Tuesday, wearing the most sought-after item in Norwegian fashion this summer: the national team jersey.

Klaveness wore the jersey under her blazer as she watched Erling Haaland score a late goal that secured Norway's spot against Brazil in the round of 16 on Sunday. However, delivery problems have left thousands of fans in Norway still scrambling to purchase the jersey. After the win, Klaveness said, "There has been an enormous demand for the jerseys, and I think we all felt that. We will have to find out whether the issue is the unexpectedly high demand or the production of the jerseys."

Norwegian channel TV 2 reported that stores fortunate enough to receive the popular jerseys experienced long queues, with the stock selling out within minutes due to the enthusiastic support from fans backing their national team, which is participating in the tournament for the first time since 1998.

Anders Lilleberg, the manager of a sports store in Oslo, told TV 2, "The demand is absolutely crazy; it is the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my life. It's fantastic. It's unfortunate that we cannot provide a Norway jersey to everyone who wants one – after all, we want to supply as many football products as possible that our customers desire – but you can only sell what you have in stock."
