18 Dead and 29 Injured in Refugee Vehicle Overturn in Eastern Afghanistan
A vehicle carrying refugees overturned near Surkh Kanu in Laghman province, resulting in 18 deaths and 29 injuries, according to local officials.

The Public Relations and Media Office of Laghman province reported that a vehicle accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. near the Surkh Kanu area in Laghman, according to the Pajok Afghan News Agency on Saturday.
Initial reports indicate that 18 individuals lost their lives and 29 others were injured in the incident.
Since the beginning of last year, at least 1.5 million people have returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan and Iran, countries that have long hosted millions of Afghans fleeing decades of conflict and humanitarian crises, according to the United Nations Migration Agency.
Afghanistan has experienced a notable increase in traffic accidents in recent years, attributed to the deterioration of road infrastructure after decades of war, reckless driving, poor adherence to traffic regulations, and a lack of safety measures.
