Iran's Mehr news agency reported that American forces targeted a maritime control tower in the city of Chabahar in southeastern Iran on Wednesday, noting that the site was used for fishing rescue operations and monitoring commercial navigation traffic.
The General Administration of Ports and Maritime Navigation in Sistan and Baluchestan province announced that the maritime traffic control tower was directly hit, resulting in damage to its structural framework, while confirming at the same time that the attack did not result in any human casualties or damage to operational equipment.
It added that the maritime control tower had also been targeted during the American attacks that the region witnessed several nights ago, noting that the competent authorities continue to assess the damage and monitor the situation in the port.
The United States launched new strikes on Iran on Tuesday night for the fourth consecutive day, while resuming the naval blockade on its ports.
While President Donald Trump backed down from his threat to impose taxes on ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, he warned that he would expand the scope of American strikes on Iran next week, to include power plants and bridges if Tehran does not agree to reach a deal.
Trump said in an interview with Fox News: "Next week will be very bad for them; because next week power plants will be targeted. Next week bridges will be targeted."
He added, "We will destroy all their power plants. We will destroy all their bridges unless they return to the negotiating table."
When asked how long the American strikes would last, Trump replied, "They will continue until I say that is enough."
On Tuesday evening, the American army announced strikes on Iran, and the Central Command "CENTCOM" explained on X that the strikes aim to "weaken Iranian capabilities used to attack commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz."
Iranian official media reported explosions near the city of Bandar Abbas and on Qeshm Island near the Strait of Hormuz, and in other locations.
Iran had announced on Tuesday that a previous round of American strikes targeted Qeshm Island, while local authorities reported that American forces bombed "four sites" in Bushehr, which houses a civilian nuclear power plant, in addition to an Iranian border area near Iraq and Kuwait.
