China has formally announced the dates for US President Donald Trump's upcoming visit to Beijing, scheduled from May 13 to 15. The trip, which was originally planned for March but postponed due to the US-Israeli war on Iran, will see Trump discuss the Iranian conflict and commercial matters with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.

A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson confirmed the visit, stating it is "at the invitation of President Xi Jinping." The White House has added that trade, tariffs, and artificial intelligence will also be on the agenda.

Schedule and Symbolism

According to Anne Kelly, the principal deputy White House press secretary, Trump will arrive in Beijing on Wednesday evening. An official welcome ceremony is set for Thursday, followed by a meeting with Xi Jinping, an afternoon visit to the Temple of Heaven, and a formal state dinner that evening.

Additional talks between the two leaders are planned for Friday before Trump departs for the United States. Kelly emphasized that Trump will focus on "rebalancing the relationship with China and prioritizing reciprocity and fairness to restore America's economic independence."

Describing the visit as one of "great symbolic significance," Kelly added, "But of course, President Trump never travels for symbolism alone. The American people can expect the president to conclude additional good deals for our country."
