Cyberattack Disrupts Services at Four Major Iranian Banks
Four leading Iranian banks suffered a cyberattack causing disruptions to electronic banking services, with no reported data breaches, authorities confirmed.

Iranian authorities announced on Saturday evening that four major banks experienced a cyberattack that disrupted several electronic banking services. Officials confirmed that no data or banking information was leaked during the incident.
The Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA) cited official sources reporting that the banks Melli, Saderat, Tejarat, and Export Development encountered technical issues starting early Saturday morning. These problems affected mobile banking applications and other electronic services, creating difficulties for customers attempting to carry out transactions.
The affected banks issued text messages to their clients apologizing for the disruptions. They emphasized that technical teams are working around the clock to resolve the issues and restore services to normal as quickly as possible.
According to sources within the Central Bank of Iran, the disturbances resulted from a cyberattack targeting the infrastructure of some banks. Preliminary investigations have revealed no signs of customer data leakage or breaches of information systems.
Amid concerns about the impact on financial settlement operations, the Central Bank announced emergency measures to ensure the continuity of deposit and transfer activities. It stated that funds for beneficiaries who had previously registered backup accounts with the affected banks would be deposited into those accounts by the end of the day.
The Central Bank also clarified that merchants and companies dealing with the affected banks would be able to receive their financial dues through the pre-registered backup accounts, ensuring that commercial settlements and daily payments would not be disrupted.
Monetary authorities confirmed ongoing monitoring of banking systems and digital infrastructure. Meanwhile, technical teams continue their efforts to fully restore services and maintain the stability of electronic systems across the country.
