The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated today, Sunday, that the issue of disarming the Hamas movement "will achieve nothing and has already failed," in a statement released by Tehran on the second anniversary of the killing of former Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran.

The Iranian comment came after U.S. President Donald Trump announced reaching an agreement allowing for the disarmament of the movement and factions in Gaza, according to CNN.

The Revolutionary Guard said that what it described as the "Hamas disarmament conspiracy" will achieve nothing and has already failed, according to the statement, which was reported by Iran's official news agency, IRNA.

President Trump recently announced that the Peace Council reached an agreement calling for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza.

He added via his platform "Truth Social": "This is a massive step toward lasting peace and security, and this agreement marks a decisive move for Gaza to finally come under the rule of a new Palestinian government that will work closely with the Peace Council to assist the Palestinian people."

Disarming Hamas is a crucial step in implementing Trump's peace plan, aimed at ending the war in Gaza and transitioning toward establishing a technocratic government in the territory.
