Digital Transformation and New Currency: How Will the Sudanese Government Protect the Economy from Collapse?

The Sudanese government officially announced its decision to replace and change the national currency, and launched a comprehensive plan to achieve this goal, chaired by member of the Sovereignty Council Ibrahim Jabar Ibrahim, with the presence of several ministers, the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan, and relevant agencies.

Minister of Culture, Information, and official spokesperson for the committee Khalid Al-Iwais said, "This meeting marks the culmination of a series of intensive consultations that have continued for more than a year and a half since the replacement process began in several states, urging citizens to open bank accounts and use digital applications."

The meeting also discussed arrangements for the replacement in secure states, mechanisms to strengthen the national economy and protect the country from planned disruptions, alongside issues related to gold smuggling, economic control, and establishing a networked connection between government institutions to improve institutional performance.

Participants also addressed ways to ensure success in the summer agricultural season and preparation for the winter season, improving returns from livestock exports, and accelerating digital transformation by adopting modern technological approaches in electronic collection, expenditure, and payment systems.

Al-Iwais reassured the Sudanese people that "the government is fully committed to developing sound strategies to protect the national economy and confront field, economic, and media challenges, countering all attempts aimed at undermining the country's stability."
