French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu declared on Tuesday that he is contemplating legal action in France against the Israeli government's treatment of activists involved in the Gaza flotilla, describing the behavior as "horrific" following the circulation of a video that sparked widespread international outrage.

Speaking before the National Assembly during a government question session, Lecornu stated, "Beyond the images, the actions are horrific and deeply shocking," adding, "We condemn them without reservation because they are shocking from a humanitarian standpoint and from the perspective of international law."

He further remarked, "Since these individuals are French citizens, we do not rule out taking legal measures in our courts regarding all the actions depicted in this video."

Organizers of the flotilla have asserted that their aim was to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza by delivering humanitarian aid. Charitable organizations report that aid remains insufficient despite a ceasefire brokered by the United States between Israel and Hamas. This ceasefire took effect in October 2025 and includes guarantees to increase aid deliveries.
