Iran and Oman Agree to Continue Dialogue on Strait of Hormuz Navigation Security
Iran and Oman have agreed to maintain political and technical-legal talks to establish a mutual understanding for securing navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

Ismail Baqaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, stated that the discussions held on Saturday between Iran and the Sultanate of Oman focused on arrangements for managing transit and shipping traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking to journalists in Tehran, Baqaei said that Oman and Iran agreed to continue dialogue at both political and technical-legal levels with the aim of reaching a joint understanding to ensure the security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The talks involved legal and technical experts from both countries, during which they examined ways to guarantee the safety and security of navigation in the strait while respecting the sovereign rights of the two coastal states, relevant international law provisions, and the terms of Article Five of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
He emphasized that future arrangements for managing transit traffic in the Strait of Hormuz must be established through consultations between the two coastal nations, taking into account recent developments over the past months, particularly the war and its resulting security impacts on navigation in the strait.
Baqaei also noted that a delegation from the Qatari government participated in part of the discussions, recognizing Qatar as a regional country that has played a mediating role in recent months in negotiations between the United States and Iran.
