Iran is waiting for an official US response through a Pakistani mediator, according to state news agency IRNA, which cited senior officials saying Tehran is fully prepared for any move.

Iran is waiting for an official reply from the United States, delivered through a Pakistani intermediary, state news agency IRNA reported on Monday. Citing senior officials, the agency stressed that Tehran is "fully prepared for any step the other side might take."
An Iranian source told IRNA that "reaching a final agreement between Iran and the United States remains conditional on first achieving a preliminary understanding that guarantees a complete end to the war." The source explained that the first phase would involve signing a written memorandum of understanding between the two sides, laying out the basic terms and expectations both parties accept as a foundation for the final deal.
Negotiations would then enter a 30-day phase—extendable if needed—to hash out technical details and specialized points concerning the drafting of the final agreement and its implementation mechanisms, the source added.
US President Donald Trump said Monday that Iran's latest response to the American proposal for a peace agreement included "some concessions" on its nuclear program, but he deemed them "insufficient" and called the Iranian offer "very weak and unacceptable."
In an interview with CBS News, Trump commented on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's remark that no one expected the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. "I predicted that, and I knew they had closed the strait. That was their only weapon," Trump said.
The US president said he is reconsidering what he called the "Freedom Project" in the Strait of Hormuz but has not yet made a final decision on launching the operation. Trump added that "the United States leading ships through the Strait of Hormuz would only be a small part of a broader military operation."
Regarding negotiations with Iran, Trump stated: "The regime will surrender." On Sunday, the US president had already expressed dissatisfaction with the Iranian response to the American proposal, calling it "absolutely unacceptable."
In contrast, official Iranian media reported that Tehran rejected the American proposal because, in their description, it "means the complete surrender of the Iranian regime."
