Macron Details Hormuz Strait Mission, Assures No Navigation Fees
French President Emmanuel Macron outlines the Hormuz Strait mission timeline and assures no navigation fees will be imposed, following US-Iran agreement.

French President Emmanuel Macron stated on Monday that the Hormuz Strait mission could be deployed within two to three days after an agreement between the United States and Iran.
Macron told Reuters that France, along with Britain, Italy, and the Netherlands, are among the countries ready to participate in the mission. He also noted that Oman does not oppose the presence of an international mission in the Strait of Hormuz.
He emphasized that the Group of Seven will exert maximum effort to ensure the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Macron added that France will work within the framework of the G7 summit alongside Gulf countries to identify alternative routes for energy supplies away from the strait.
Macron declared, "We will do everything possible so that there are no fees" in the Strait of Hormuz. He further explained that it will take several weeks before the actual impact of the Iran agreement becomes evident in the markets.
The French president underscored the importance of addressing Iran’s ballistic missile program in future negotiations.
Earlier on Monday, Iranian sources claimed that Tehran had added a clause at the "last moments" concerning the imposition of maritime service fees in the agreement with the United States.
The official Iranian news agency Fars cited an informed source, whose identity was not disclosed, stating that the amendment was made to explicitly affirm what it called Iran’s "sovereignty" over the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian sources also indicated that the use of the term "maritime services" implies the United States’ acceptance to pay fees to Tehran for these services.
These Iranian claims came just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump told The New York Times that the agreement reached with Iran would ultimately ensure that the Strait of Hormuz remains "permanently free of fees."
