Russia warned of the danger of moves carried out by European countries and NATO members in the Baltic Sea, considering them a serious threat.

Russia warned of the danger of moves carried out by European countries and members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization "NATO" in the Baltic Sea, considering that these moves represent a "serious threat."
And Artyom Bulatov, Special Missions Ambassador of the Russian Foreign Ministry, considered that the moves of the European Union and "NATO" are increasingly turning the Baltic Sea into an "area of confrontation"; which creates risks for maritime navigation.
Bulatov said: "The Baltic Sea was for a long time an area of mutually beneficial cooperation between the countries of the region, and it was not only an important European transport artery, but also served as a link for a large number of logistics supply chains outside the region."
The Russian official added: "The actions of NATO and the European Union are increasingly turning the Baltic Sea into an area of confrontation; which creates significant risks for navigation," according to what was reported by the Russian "Novosti" agency.
This coincides with the American moves in the Middle East and the crisis witnessed by international navigation through the Strait of "Hormuz", due to the war between the United States and Iran, which broke out on February 28 last.
US forces are imposing a suffocating naval blockade on Iranian ports in an attempt by US President Donald Trump to cut off the funding resources that ensure the survival of the Iranian regime and force it to return to negotiations in the hope of reaching a peace agreement.
In the latest developments of the Strait of "Hormuz" crisis, President Trump announced the temporary suspension of Operation "Project Freedom" to support efforts to secure navigation in the strait, explaining that the decision came at the request of Pakistan and a few countries.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko stated that the activities of "NATO" countries in the Baltic Sea pose serious threats to international shipping and economic activity.
The Baltic Sea is a critically important strategic corridor, through which huge quantities of Russian energy exports and goods pass to international markets; making any restriction on navigation there carry far-reaching economic and geopolitical repercussions.
Moscow is studying, according to a previous statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, the option of escorting its commercial fleet in the Baltic Sea with naval forces to protect it from Western attacks.
