The Syrian People's Council has postponed its first session because President Ahmed Al-Sharrah was unable to attend due to hosting French President Emmanuel Macron, who is scheduled to arrive in Damascus on Monday.

Mohammed Taha Al-Ahmad, head of the Supreme Committee for the Syrian People's Council elections, issued a decision to delay the initial session to a later date to be announced. The decision will be published on the committee's official websites and through other channels to ensure public awareness.

Al-Ahmad clarified that the first session requires the presence of the Syrian president and Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani. He noted that the postponement coincides with preparations for the official visit of the French president to Syria the following day.

In related developments, the Media Directorate of the Syrian Presidency announced that the visit will include a roundtable dialogue session involving Presidents Al-Sharrah and Macron along with delegations from both countries.

The French delegation accompanying Macron includes a selection of investors and representatives from French companies, indicating a serious intent to strengthen economic partnership and cooperation alongside political discussions.

The agenda for the talks will cover prospects for developing bilateral relations across various fields and exchanging views on recent regional and international developments, reflecting a mutual commitment to continuing political dialogue and enhancing ties between Syria and France.
