Trump Accuses Democratic Leader of Inciting Violence After
Donald Trump directly accused House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries of inciting violence, linking his rhetoric to a recent assassination attempt.

An unprecedented accusation has been leveled by former President Donald Trump against the top Democrat in the House of Representatives. Trump directly charged House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries with inciting violence, a move that escalates political tensions in the wake of a recent assassination attempt.
The accusation was delivered in a fiery post on Trump's social media platform, Truth Social. "This lunatic, Hakeem 'low-IQ' Jeffries, should be charged with inciting violence," Trump wrote. "The radical left Democrats really want to destroy our country."
To bolster his claim, Trump attached an image of Jeffries standing in front of a sign reading "Maximum Warfare." This was juxtaposed with a photo of the suspected gunman, 31-year-old Cole Thomas Allen, who stormed the White House Correspondents' Association dinner on April 25 with a rifle. The implication was that Jeffries' slogan inspired the attacker.
Details of the Shooting and Charges
Allen, the alleged shooter, now faces four federal charges. The most serious is the attempted assassination of the President of the United States. He is also charged with assaulting a police officer with a deadly weapon, using a firearm in a felony, and transporting weapons across state lines.
The next court hearing for Allen is scheduled for May 11. The presiding judge will be Trevor McFadden, a judge appointed to the bench by Trump himself in 2017.
