Trump: Iran is the World's Leading Sponsor of Terrorism... We Destroyed Its Nuclear Program

President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Iran "is no longer the bully in the Middle East," reiterating his pledge not to allow Tehran to possess nuclear weapons.

In his speech before the United Nations General Assembly, Trump described Iran as "the world's leading sponsor of terrorism," accusing the Iranian regime of "spreading death and chaos" across the Middle East and beyond.

He added that he had opened negotiations with Iran after taking office last year, offering full economic cooperation in exchange for ending its nuclear program and its support for terrorism, but it rejected the offer, according to him.

Trump said the U.S. military "destroyed" Iran's nuclear program during Operation "Midnight Hammer" (June 2025), noting he had again called on Tehran to reach an agreement, which it refused.

He accused Iran of continuing to build a massive stockpile of missiles and drones threatening American military personnel and countries in the region, along with developing a missile capable of reaching Europe, claiming Tehran sought to acquire a nuclear bomb under the cover of a conventional ballistic missile arsenal.
