Trump: 'Last Chance' Talks Underway Now with Iran

President Donald Trump said that talks are currently underway with Iran and are going well.

He noted that the talks were initiated in response to Iran's request and are the "last chance" to reach a good agreement.

Trump confirmed that discussions are now focused on fully reopening the Strait of Hormuz by Tuesday, with the second phase being the removal of all nuclear capabilities from Iran, emphasizing his position on this has not changed.

This comes despite denials from officials that any talks are occurring with Iran, contrary to Trump's statements.

U.S. officials told CBS News that there are no "new" or innovative negotiations planned—only ongoing talks between Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and the U.S. negotiating team with the Iranian team, through intermediaries.

In a press conference on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei stated that Tehran has no plans for direct talks with Washington, following Trump's claim that "the deal is imminent."
