US Vice President JD Vance Defends Trump's Controversial Inflation Remarks
Vice President JD Vance defended President Trump's statement about "liking inflation," emphasizing the president's awareness of Americans' struggles.

US Vice President JD Vance has come to the defense of President Donald Trump's recent comments in which Trump stated that he "likes inflation." Vance clarified that the president is aware of the difficulties many Americans face amid economic challenges.
According to Vance, "What he said is that he likes the fact that inflation will decrease when this war ends," as reported by CNN.
Trump's remarks, which sparked controversy ahead of the midterm elections, included the statement: "I like inflation. No, I love it, the numbers were great," made to reporters last week. When asked again, Trump added, "When the war ends? It will retreat, it will drop like a rock."
Vance explained further, "People were asking about inflation and the problem of affordability, which is a very real issue. What he said is: I like inflation because it will go down when the war ends."
The president has repeatedly asserted that inflation and fuel prices will decline rapidly once the conflict with Iran concludes. However, the latest inflation data showed an increase in May to 4.2%, marking the highest rate in three years.
Vance acknowledged that the administration still has work to do on economic issues, including fuel prices, which he described as "very high right now." Nonetheless, he praised new investments and the construction of new factories, noting that these efforts will yield results "in the long term."
