Three sources confirmed to CNN that the individual involved in the shooting incident at the White House on Saturday is 21-year-old Nasser Beast.

A law enforcement source revealed that Beast had prior interactions with the Secret Service, including an incident in June 2025 when he blocked an entrance to the White House. Following this, after claiming to be "the Lord," the Secret Service detained him and committed him to the Washington Institute of Psychiatry for a psychological evaluation.

In July 2025, Beast was arrested again by the Secret Service after attempting to enter a White House complex entrance. Subsequently, a judge issued an order barring him from entering White House grounds.

During investigations into these incidents last year, authorities discovered that Beast made various statements on social media, including a claim that he was "the real Osama bin Laden" and at least one post expressing a desire to harm Donald Trump.

Details of the Shooting Incident

Several CBS News reporters present in the White House North Lawn reported hearing gunfire around 6 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday. The U.S. Secret Service then escorted them inside, and the lockdown at the White House was lifted shortly before 7 p.m.

An individual familiar with the investigation confirmed that the suspect is Nasser Beast, who had a previous encounter with the Secret Service in July 2025 after attempting to enter the White House. He was arrested and placed in a psychiatric ward due to mental health concerns.

The source added that Beast had been residing in Washington, D.C., for approximately 18 months.

Trump Comments on the Shooter’s Background

Earlier, Donald Trump stated that the man who fired several shots near the White House on Saturday night before being killed "had a history of violence and appeared to be obsessed" with the presidential residence.

Trump posted on his Truth Social account: "I thank the wonderful Secret Service and law enforcement for their quick and professional response tonight to a gunman near the White House, who had a history of violence and appeared to be obsessed with the most cherished building in our country."
