Zelensky Warns of Large-Scale Russian Attack on Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia intends to launch another major attack on his country, in statements published Tuesday.

He wrote on the Telegram app, discussing his meeting with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings, that Ukraine is in continuous contact with its allies to obtain new air defense systems.

Zelensky stated, "Intelligence now indicates that Russia is preparing for a new large-scale attack on Ukraine."

He added that it is absolutely impossible to discuss easing sanctions on Russia "at a time when Ukrainians live every day under the threat of missile and drone attacks."

Russian forces have long carried out wide-scale night attacks using drones and missiles, but they have changed their tactics in recent weeks by launching a continuous barrage of attacks throughout the day.

Over the past months, Moscow has also deployed jet-powered drones capable of flying at higher altitudes and evading air defenses, causing significantly greater disruption to businesses, government services, and daily life compared to previous levels, during the war that has lasted four and a half years.

During his stay in New York, Zelensky discussed with U.S. President Donald Trump efforts to end the war, including the possibility of reaching a bilateral ceasefire agreement linked to energy-related objectives.
