Barcelona has turned down opportunities to sign Bernardo Silva and Dusan Vlahovic on free transfers, focusing instead on other priorities amid financial constraints. The club aims to replace Robert Lewandowski with strategic reinforcements while managing its budget carefully.

Barcelona has passed on the chance to acquire Bernardo Silva and Dusan Vlahovic without transfer fees this summer, despite the financial challenges facing the club. The Catalan team is concentrating on specific tactical reinforcements and maintaining financial balance rather than pursuing available free agents.
According to journalist Sique Rodriguez, Barcelona has decisively rejected offers for both players. Silva, whose contract with Manchester City expires this summer, has made 459 appearances and scored 76 goals for the English club since 2017, securing every major trophy during his tenure. However, Barcelona considers its midfield sufficiently equipped and prefers to strengthen other positions.
Following Robert Lewandowski’s departure after scoring 119 goals in 191 official matches for Barcelona, the club is searching for a new centre-forward. Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, who joined the Italian side in 2022 and will become a free agent this summer, is not currently a priority for Barcelona. Rodriguez indicated that signing Vlahovic would suggest the club failed to attract other preferred targets to Spotify Camp Nou.
Financially, Lewandowski’s exit does not improve Barcelona’s budget as his €26 million gross salary was not included in next season’s financial projections due to his contract expiration. To comply with La Liga’s 1:1 salary-to-revenue rule, Barcelona must collect €32 million owed by New Era Visionary Group for VIP seating. Additionally, the club needs to complete minor player sales, such as transferring Ansu Fati before June 30 for approximately €10 million to €11 million, to comfortably pursue summer transfer targets and avoid relying solely on free agents.
Looking forward, Barcelona must finalize financial arrangements and player sales before re-engaging in transfer negotiations. Rodriguez reported that the club maintains positive relations with La Liga, fostering optimism that new signings can be registered ahead of the upcoming season.
